Joan Villalonga’s Ph.D. project is focused on the study of meteotsunamis in the Balearic Islands. Advanced data analysis techniques are used to study high-resolution atmospheric and oceanic data in order to gain a better understanding of the physical mechanisms behind these phenomena. In addition to his research, Joan contributes to the VENOM project, where he assists in the construction and maintenance of a network of low-cost tide gauges in the Balearic Islands. This network provides unprecedented spatial resolution and promises to offer insights into the sea level variability in the region.
